TEMPLE GATE. after learning of the suspicious circumstances surrounding jane doe’s (aka anna lee) death, lynn langermann and her husband, blake, began their investigation of the havasupai indian reservation, where the girl was said to have walked barefoot, pregnant, and alone from. lynn was determined to get the real story, to find out what really happened to that poor girl. their investigation, however, took an unfortunate turn. the helicopter crashed during their initial recording of the area after a bright, blinding light flashed across the sky.both lynn and blake survived, but were soon separated when lynn was dragged from the wreckage by a group of men chanting religious ravings. bound and gagged, she was brought before papa knoth, the self-appointed leader of the deranged cult. after his inspection, he declared Lynn was with child - more specifically, the antichrist their religion deemed would bring the end of times. lynn soon escaped from their clutches, throwing herself through a window to get away. it was then she was reunited with blake and they fled with knoth’s followers on their heels. soon lynn succumbed to intense stomach pains, barely able to walk. and the troubles kept coming.just when knoth’s followers were about to take lynn back, another group attacked them. blake did all he could to save lynn, but she was taken by the heretics’ leader, val, to their underground cavern beneath the mines. there, lynn’s condition worsened. her belly swelled and she experienced the turmoils of pregnancy. her mental state deteriorated from the blinding bursts of light (murkoff's morphogenic engine) and val’s abuse to the point that she believed she was pregnant.val and their heretics worshiped lynn as ‘the mother’, believing her child would be the savior. they strung up lynn over a shrine and waited for the birth. blake stumbled into their sanctuary, but was overtaken by val before he could get to lynn. all hell broke loose when knoth’s followers found val’s hideout and attacked the heretics. in the commotion, lynn’s bonds were broken. she crawled free of the mines and was once again reunited with blake.‘pregnant’, bleeding, and drained of all energy, lynn held onto blake as they made their way back to the church for shelter from the approaching storm. the ‘baby’ was on its way. blake placed lynn on the nearest table at the front of the church, holding her hand as she endured a horrible labor. she pushed and pushed, but no baby came out. there was nothing there.A TWIST IN FATE. by something short of a miracle, lynn survived her blood loss and instead passed out on the table, only to wake up and clamber to the edge of temple gate, bloodied, bruised and weakened. it felt as though she'd walked for days, her body screaming for rest, but she finally made it to the road. the same road jane doe stumbled down to escape the horrors of temple gate. a van stopped and its driver offered to bring her to the nearest hospital. lynn was too weak to notice the company name branded on the driver's badge - murkoff.after several days in the hospital, drifting in and out of consciousness, lynn awoke to two individuals dressed in neat suits and wearing faces of stone. they explained they were from murkoff's mitigation department and that lynn was in possession of confidential murkoff information. they coerced (forced) her into signing a NDA and agreeing not to expose their secrets or she would would be eliminated, records wiped clean as if she'd never existed. the agreement also included regular check-ins with one of their mitigation officers to ensure lynn stayed in line.once released from the hospital, lynn was taken back home where the weight of her husband's death began to sink in.her physical injuries nearly end her life, and the psychological effects of her trauma would be with her for the rest of her life. after escaping temple gate, lynn was less focused, prone to angry outbursts and was plagued by countless nightmares. she attended sporadic sessions with her murkoff-assigned therapist, but the trauma she experienced will never heal.lynn underwent hormone therapy to heal from the false pregnancy. she also trialed a number of anti-depressants before giving up on them entirely. it was not long before lynn could not live under murkoff's thumb and she planned her escape. to hide herself from murkoff, she moved states, cut off contact to her family and her online community.once settled, and hoping to be away from murkoff's prying eyes, she returned to therapy. it was sporadic, but helpful. she struggled finding consistency in her life and eventually meets up with an old friend, miles upshur. their relationship is messy and broken, but lynn found some comfort there... even love. this began to crumble when it was revealed that blake did not die in temple gate. his mind gone, his body was found by murkoff and brought back to one of their labs and killed there after invasive experimentation. miles knew this. eventually, he left and lynn, in her grief, did not try to contact him for some time. her attention fixed on murkoff. simon peacock reached out to her, seeking any information she can provide to assist him in his revenge against murkoff. with nothing left to lose, lynn agreed to help.
